Privacy policy

Last updated: 2 July 2026

This English text is provided for convenience. The French version is the legally binding one.

This policy explains what personal data FTC (“FTC”, “we”) collects, why, and what your rights are. We limit collection to what the app strictly needs to work.

1. Data we collect

  • Account — your email address or phone number, used for authentication. These credentials are handled by Firebase Authentication and are not stored in our application database.
  • Profile — username, photo, interests and visibility preference (public/private) that you fill in.
  • Content — comments, reviews, tips, lists, reminders and saved items you create in the app.
  • Usage — anonymised usage events (screens viewed, key actions) to understand and improve the app.

2. Why we use it

  • to provide and secure the app (authentication, feed personalisation);
  • to show your content and interactions to the community according to your visibility settings;
  • to handle reports and enforce the community rules;
  • to measure usage in order to improve the product.

3. Processors

We rely on service providers that process data on our behalf:

  • Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage, push notifications) — hosting and application infrastructure.
  • PostHog (European instance) — audience measurement and usage analytics.

These providers do not use your data for their own purposes and are bound by confidentiality obligations.

4. Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Content you publish publicly (comments, reviews, public lists, username) is visible to other members. The rest is only shared with the providers listed above, or where the law requires it.

5. Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When the account is deleted, your personal data is deleted or anonymised, unless we are legally required to keep it.

6. Your rights (GDPR)

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and object to the processing of your data, as well as the right to data portability. You can delete your account from the app settings, or exercise your rights by writing to hive.ftc@gmail.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority.

7. Minors

The app is not intended for people below the legal age required in their country. We do not knowingly collect data about minors under that age.

8. Changes

This policy may change. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page; significant changes will be signalled to you.

9. Contact

For any question about your data, write to us at hive.ftc@gmail.com. See also our Terms of use.
